Who am I?

I'm Asahi, currently studying abroad in the United States at West Virginia University. This experience has not only shaped my academic and career goals but has also transformed my outlook on the world. My decision to study abroad was deeply influenced by my dream of creating a world-class English education system for students across Japan—a dream that began in my childhood when my family hosted homestay students from various countries. Those cultural exchanges taught me the importance of English and opened my eyes to the educational disparities between different regions of Japan. I realized that, to make a difference, I needed to immerse myself in an English-speaking environment and learn from one of the best educational systems.

My studies at WVU have allowed me to explore both the business and technological sides of the world. In my MIS classes, I've developed a strong understanding of information systems from a business perspective, learning about strategic management, IT governance, and how technology can drive organizational success. At the same time, my CS studies have provided me with a deep understanding of programming, algorithms, and data structures. This dual focus helps me bridge the gap between technology and business, positioning me to solve real-world problems with practical, integrative solutions.

I’ve been heavily involved in various academic and entrepreneurial activities. I founded the *American English Institute*, an organization where native speakers and bilingual instructors teach students English through personalized small-group instruction. Additionally, I work as a study abroad support agent, helping students achieve success in their overseas studies. I’m passionate about sharing my own study abroad experiences with others and organizing workshops to promote a global perspective.

Strength training has also become an integral part of my life in the U.S. It started as a way to fit in with my surroundings and take advantage of the school gym, but it quickly turned into a passion. I love the process of setting goals, making steady progress, and challenging my limits. This dedication to physical fitness has positively impacted my sports performance, mental resilience, and overall well-being.

Looking ahead, I aspire to work in a field that allows me to leverage my communication skills, technical knowledge, and passion for solving challenges. I’m particularly interested in roles like Technology Consulting, where I can help businesses navigate digital transformation and develop IT strategies. My time abroad has taught me to appreciate the importance of adapting to new environments, understanding diverse perspectives, and staying open to opportunities for growth.

Above all, my study abroad journey has deepened my commitment to my dream of ensuring that every child in Japan has access to quality English education. I believe that my experiences in the U.S.—from mastering the language to learning the nuances of leadership and technology—will enable me to build a better educational system for future generations. It’s a journey that has not only shaped my skills but has also given me a clear vision of the impact I want to make in the world.
